What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?

So what’s my New Year’s Resolution? Eat Healthier? No. Exercise More? Nah. This year, my resolution is to spend more quality time with my cats – Arya and Django.

With a full-time job, friends and family commitments, and numerous extra-curricular activities, I often find that my furry companions get neglected. This year I’m going to make more of an effort to put them at the top of my list. After all, they wait around for me all day when I’m at work. The very least I can do is dedicate the time I am home to them.

Here’s my plan:

Re-allocate Time

I now have a brand new Litter-Robot that is saving me about 10 minutes a day of kitty litter scooping and cleaning. That extra time will now be committed to kitty playtime.

Turn Work into Play

Working on my website, KittyLoaf.com, is a hobby that I plan to dedicate more time to in 2017. One of my main challenges is getting good quality pictures of my cats. Thankfully, my cats very much enjoy our photo shoots. So it’s kind of a win-win for all of us.

Put an Emphasis on Quality

After a long day of work it can be tempting to just lie down on the couch and vedge out in front of the TV. Sure, I’ll probably get cuddles from both my cats. But that’s not the level of quality time they deserve. Being fully engaged in a play session with an interactive toy is quality time well spent.

The best part about this New Year’s Resolution is that it’s not just for my cats. The quality time I spend with my kitties is therapeutic for me. It releases stress. It is entertaining. And it makes me feel good about myself. This year, my commitment is to them and myself.
